This Saturday car fanatics are in for a treat with the second annual “Park Off” taking place at the TransNamib Sport Field under the theme ”Germany vs Japan”.
Hardcore fans of the automakers from each of the respective countries will bring their fanciest rides to the event, where they can show off their tricked out cars, share ideas and party with Windhoek's petrol heads. Also being celebrated on the day is the sixth birthday of Fresh FM, and they will be out in full force, making this one event you don't want to miss.
The Germany vs Japan Park Off and Fresh FM's birthday bash promises a day filled with fun for the whole family. Gates open at 12h00 and the party will then move over to Club Vibe as from 21h00. Cool boxes will be allowed to be brought in until 15h00 at an extra cost of N$30 and those wanting to be part of the “Show and Shine” part of the event will have to pay N$70. This will enter them into the running for the prizes, which will be awarded to the best cars on show.
One of the organizers of the event, Nadia van Wyk, had this to say on how it all came about: “While watching Mzanzi's Rides one afternoon, the idea came to me and we developed it into the Germany vs Japan Park Off because vehicles from those countries are very popular with the younger generation in Namibia. These include Volkswagen from Germany and Honda of Japan.” The event however is not confined to these makes and all Kinds of vehicles are welcome, including bikes and other vehicles.
Fresh FM's Azeal 'Cheeze' Matsoarelle invited the public out in numbers, saying “Fresh FM is a very young radio station, but when one looks at the calibre of our work and the events we're affiliated to, you wouldn't think that we're just six years old. We owe this amazing growth to our listeners, so this weekend's event at the TransNamib sports grounds is our way of saying thanks for the love over the years.”
Tickets for the event are available at Computicket for N$ 40.
