Parliamentarians visit Otweya

SWAPO Party chief whip Hamunyera Hambyuka and other members of parliament visited the Otweya construction site at Walvis Bay on Friday.

The delegation was briefed by Walvis Bay deputy mayor, Saara Mutondoka, the Walvis Bay rural constituency councillor, Florian Donatus and project manager Raymond Pietersen on the progress of the 121 houses that are currently being constructed.

"We wanted to see the leadership, but did not want to leave without visiting the fire victims. We wanted to greet them and see the houses that are under construction. We are impressed with the progress.

"I am told that the project started last week, and is intended to be finished by the end of this month. The plots have space for extension to the buildings, and we can see that people are happy to soon have a place that they can call home," said Hambyuka.

The delegation that included members of parliament Maria Elago and Modestus Amutse proceeded to the office of Erongo regional governor, Neville Andre, to hand over a donation of food items for one hundred families of the Otweya community.

They will proceed to the rest of the regions in the country to engage regional leaderships and some local authority councillors on happenings in their regions.
