Pension funds should invest in unlisted assets – Namfisa chief

Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (Namfisa) chief executive Kenneth Matomola says pension funds should invest in unlisted assets.

During an engagement in Windhoek on Thursday, Matomola said this will help businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), that face challenges in accessing capital.

“SMEs are the engines of economic growth, job creation, and innovation. However, their access to capital is often limited, hindering their ability to scale and contribute fully to the broader economy,” said Matomola.

Unlisted investments refer to investments in companies or assets that are not publicly traded on a stock exchange

He said when pension funds invest, it benefits the members and also stimulates local entrepreneurship and supports infrastructure development.
