Pilot in NDF jet crash uninjured

THE Ministry of Defence is investigating a Namibia Defence Force jet crash at the Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo Airport at Ondangwa on Friday, minister Frans Kapofi has said.

Investigators are yet to determine the cause of the crash, he said, adding that the pilot did not suffer any injuries.

“He was taken to the hospital for a check-up as a precautionary measure,” he said.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the pilot was preparing for a military event, which will take place at Uulunga wa Kolondo in Oshikoto region.

However, the minister said he was not aware whether the pilot was preparing for that event. The minister also refused to give the value of the plane.

“That will be explained to you, but these things are expensive,” he said.

This is the second NDF jet to crash in three weeks. The other incident took place about three weeks ago at Karibib in Erongo region.
