A 40-year-old pilot was killed in a helicopter crash outside Windhoek last week Friday.
The pilot, Lambert Roux, was originally from Kamanjab in the Kunene Region.
Namibian Police Force (Nampol)’s spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi informed a Sunday media briefing that the deceased was a very experienced pilot.
Roux departed from the Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA) in a small helicopter and was on his way to a farm in the Gobabis area, but never made it there.
It was later established that the helicopter crashed and that Roux died.
Kanguatjivi said a forensic team and crime scene investigators were sent to the scene.
The helicopter is said to belong to the Etosha Helicopters Company.
Roux was the only occupant in the helicopter at the time of the incident.
The cause of the accident has not yet been established.
His next of kin have been informed.
