President Hage Geingob’s daughter, Nangula Geingos, has responded to a Facebook user asking how he could become romantically involved with the child of a head of state by saying “we are all taken already”.
“Maybe the next president,” she added.
The social media user then responded: “Please Nangula just ka small love.”
These exchanges were comments accompanying The Namibian’s Facebook status update on a report on the presidential couple’s children accompanying them on state business.
Geingos in the report said the presidential children were enjoying their holiday in Dubai, where Geingob and first lady Monica Geingos are currently attending the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) until Sunday.
Nangula earlier this week defended the presence of the presidential children in Dubai on social media, saying they enjoyed no additional benefits from the government and that they did not attend any government meetings in Dubai.
The children who travelled with the couple are Kayla Elago, Nino Kalondo, Dangos Geingos, Nangula, and her son.
“Our only benefit is having parents who love and care about us in spite of their demanding schedules.
“The government business of participating in COP28 was just that! We are not part of the government, and therefore did not attend any meetings nor discussions,” Nangula said on Facebook.
In a press statement this week, the presidential couple came out strongly against critics who allege that their children were travelling on the government’s account.
“The Namibian public and the media should rest assured that not a single cent of public funds has been spent on the children of the first couple,” the statement reads.
