PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba has called upon the private sector to join Government in its effort to achieve social and economic development in the country.
Speaking at the official opening of the Etango Shopping Centre in Oshakati on Saturday, Pohamba said the new development came at a time when Namibia was working at enhancing an environment that was conducive to investment and job creation. The shopping centre was constructed by First Wall Property Investment, a joint venture established in 2001 by Chinese and Namibian entrepreneurs.”The construction of Etango Shopping Centre is a clear testimony of the strong and cordial fraternal ties that exist between the Republic of Namibia and the People’s Republic of China,” the President said.Pohamba urged other investors to emulate the efforts of First Wall Properties in order to create employment in Namibia. The centre, which was constructed at an estimated cost of N$52 million, has created more then 200 job opportunities for the local people.
