Police officer allegedly killed by boyfriend

A Windhoek female police officer was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend on Friday morning at the couple’s home in 7de Laan.

Kawaa Karuombe was 39 years old.

Khomas regional police commander, commissioner Ismael Basson, said the suspect handed himself over, hours after the incident.

“The suspect came to the police station around 08h00 this morning, and said he locked the girlfried in after killing her. When we arrived (at the scene), she appeared to have been strangled in their room. At this point, the reason he did it is not clear,” Basson said.

spoke to a relative of the suspect, Katjee Hamauka, who narrated what allegedly happened.

“He (suspect) came very early to my house and told me he want to kill himself. I asked him why, but at first he didnt come out with the real story, all he said was he wants to die. As we were getting closer to their house, he told me that he killed his girlfriend and he didnt know what to do and that’s why he wanted to kill himself,” Hamauka said.

He said he convinced the suspect to report the matter to the police.
