Police report three suicides, dumping of baby

A 51-year-old woman took her own life at Omahenene location at Oshakati on Friday, the police have reported.

The police stated in a crime report on Sunday that the woman was found dead in her room on Friday afternoon.
The police also reported two other suspected suicides that occurred on Friday.

At the Omusati region village Okathitu KaNangombe, the 33-year-old Immanuel Sheehama Matias is suspected to have ended his own life.

Another suspected suicide occurred at the village Oshaandja at Oshakati West, where the 86-year-old Fredrick Shikodhi took his own life in a mahangu field close to his homestead.

In Windhoek, the body of a newborn baby was discovered in a rubbish bin on Sunday morning.

The police said the infant’s body was discovered by someone looking for empty cans in the rubbish bin.

No arrest has been made in connection with the death and dumping of the baby at this point.
