Praise For Big Issue In Homeless Cup

Praise For Big Issue In Homeless Cup

AS a former VSO volunteer in Namibia, I could not resist going to watch the Namibian team play in The Homeless World Cup in Edinburgh, where I am now living.

Even though I am not a football fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the Namibia/Germany match. Not only did the team play with skill and enthusiasm but they made many friends with their sense of fun and joy of living. On a sunny Saturday evening I was delighted to see them get the majority of a huge crowd of many nations behind them.It was obvious from the reaction of the people around me that they just made people feel happier for watching them.I felt doubly privileged because I had worked with one of the young men in Windhoek. All of these young men are homeless and sell the Big Issue in Windhoek. If you see them and you can afford it, buy a copy of the magazine. They have been great ambassadors for Namibia. When they return home support they deserve all the support they can get.Linda Parton Via e-mailNot only did the team play with skill and enthusiasm but they made many friends with their sense of fun and joy of living. When they return home support they deserve all the support they can get.Linda Parton Via e-mail
