President Nangolo Mbumba says former trade unionist Alfred Angula will be remembered for his contribution towards workers’ rights.
Angula died at his home in Windhoek on Tuesday.
He served as secretary general of the Namibia Farm Workers Union and acting secretary general of the National Union of Namibian Workers.
Mbumba extended condolences to Angula’s family and said he had learned with sadness about the unionist’s death, whom he referred to as a “comrade”.
“Angula will be remembered for his contributions in the advancement of the rights of farm workers and the trade union movement in general. On behalf of the people and the government of the Republic of Namibia, I wish to extend sincere condolences to his wife, the
children and the entire bereaved Angula family,” said the president.
