Singer-songwriter Prime-Rose Harases says her newest album, ‘Found’, is an artistic culmination of her growth, tone and identity.
She says her passion for music dates back to when she was around 10 years old, when she took keyboard lessons while being involved in other musical activities.
She launched her first single and music video, ‘Never Lose’, in 2020, and her debut album, ‘Thunder’, in May 2021.
Harases describes her music as a liberating force, enabling her to express herself wholeheartedly. She creates music not only to free herself but to offer liberating experiences to others through the medium of creative art.
She says her newest musical offering represents the journey she has taken as a musician, reflecting highs and lows, moments of love, and times of introspection.
“The production of the album was an emotional and rewarding experience for me. I feel that it captures not just the evolution of my music, but also the passion that has kept me going throughout the years. This album also has a special meaning for me, as it’s the first album released under my studio, RRR Studios,” she says.
Harases says the name of the 11-track album holds deep significance, as it reflects a journey of self-discovery and love.
“The album is about finding oneself amid the chaos of life, finding love in its purest form and also finding peace in acknowledging who I am and where I come from. It’s about a realisation that after all the searching, everything I needed was already within me,” she says.
Talking about her experience working on another album, Harases says working on the album felt different for her because this album is more personal and represents a deeper exploration of her identity as an artist.
She says this time around, she had complete creative control and produced the songs in her own studio, which allowed her to shape every aspect of the music, making it an authentic representation of who she is today.
“When I released ‘Thunder’ I was exploring my sound and experimenting with different styles and it marked an important milestone in my career. ‘Found’ is different from my previous work in several ways. For one, it’s more introspective and vulnerable, while still embracing fun and romance. The sound is more refined, leaning heavily on Afrofusion but with influences of my cultural roots and my mother tongue interwoven throughout.
“This album has a certain maturity and cohesiveness to it that makes it stand apart from my other work. On my new album I focused on authenticity in every note and lyric, capturing not just catchy tunes but real emotions,” she says.
Harases says she hopes people listening to the album walk away with the belief that their dreams are valid and worth pursuing, even if the journey feels lonely at times.
