Local artist Jacob Haihambo, known as ‘Proof Nana’ has officially released his album, ‘Step by Step,’ marking a notable milestone in his career.
His latest album features a blend of Afrobeat, hip-hop, and traditional Namibian rhythms.
Proof Nana spoke about the inspiration for the album in an exclusive interview with The Namibian.
“Life is a journey, and ‘Step by Step’ captures the progression that we all go through.
“Each track represents a different stage, filled with struggles and triumphs,” he says.
The artist says the album is about more than just personal experiences, as it also addresses themes of resilience, love and cultural pride.
“’Step by Step’ is a journey of perseverance and dedication. The message in this album is to believe in your dreams, not to give up, to take it one day at a time, to be patient and kind to yourself; it is give-and-take, step by step,” says Proof Nana.
The album features collaborations with other Namibian artists and producers, giving his music a new and dynamic sound.
The album features artists such as Terro 100, Giza, Dzee, and Blessy One Time.
Chakie Beatz, Mr Elvo, Andrew on the Beat, and Sean Beats mixed and mastered the record.
Tracks like ‘Wedding Celebration’, ‘Wisdom’, and ‘Be Grateful’ have already received positive feedback, with fans praising the uplifting messages and catchy melodies.
Proof Nana has announced that he will launch his new album on 2 November in the capital, promising a performance that will include new songs and fan favourites.
“I want my audience to feel the music, connect with it, and leave the concert inspired,” he says.
‘Step by Step’ is available across all major streaming platforms.
Proof Nana, a Tsumeb-born artist, is no stranger to the music industry.
He says he has a small recording studio at the community market that keeps a few aspiring musicians off the street.
“My music speaks for the voiceless, and I would like to donate 10% of my album sales back to the community.”
He says as a musician, he has social responsibilities that he takes very seriously, which includes giving back to the community.
“My music speaks for the voiceless and serves as a vehicle for social change, specifically to reduce the statistics of alcohol and drug abuse in our community. Giving back to the community also gives me a sense of restoring hope to the destitute.”
He says the ‘Step by Step’ album is dedicated to anyone who has lost hope, reminding them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
