Public asked for help after body found at Swakopmund

The Erongo police is asking for the public’s help in identifying the body of a man, which was discovered at Swakopmund on Sunday.

The police also need help in tracing the possible suspects in connection with the man’s death.

Erongo police spokesperson chief inspector Ileni Shapumba says the body of an unidentified man was discovered at an open space behind the Saamstaan settlement near the town’s Mondesa cemetery on Sunday.

The body was discovered by a passer-by, with multiple stab wounds.

The man was wearing light grey jeans and a black pullover.

Shapumba says the man was allegedly last seen at Hero Bar at Mondesa.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police detective chief inspector Johannes Mwatongwe at 081 246 1121, or warrant officer Kletus Kabuku at 081 391 0671, or to report this to the nearest police station.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi in the weekend crime report said in a separate incident, an unidentified man’s body was found at Havana in Windhoek on Saturday.

“The deceased is unknown at this stage. No arrest. Police investigation continues,” the police say.

Furthermore, a man (31) was allegedly stabbed to death after a confrontation with another man (28).

“The altercation escalated, culminating in the suspect fatally stabbing the victim twice in the chest and shoulder.

“The victim, bleeding profusely, sought assistance from patrolling officers who promptly transported him to the hospital. The suspect has been apprehended, with investigations ongoing,” Shikwambi says.
