THE Minister of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, Willem Konjore, yesterday urged high school pupils at Keetmanshoop to refrain from alcohol and drug abuse.
Speaking at a three-day career expo at the Suiderlig High School, Konjore labelled alcohol and drug abuse a ‘national disease’, calling on the pupils to strive towards becoming knowledgeable and responsible leaders of tomorrow.’I can assure you there is only one way to overcome the biggest challenges facing human life and that is education and discipline,’ he said. Konjore said the backbone of any country was educated and skilled people, saying Government invested millions in education to produce a skilled and educated nation.’As leaders of tomorrow, choose good careers and become the drivers of our economy in the future,’ he said.Keetmanshoop Urban Constituency Councillor, Hilma Nikanor, delivered Konjore’s speech.At the career expo various leading companies made presentations of career options available in Namibia. luqman@namibian.com.na
