Quality and Chile remain three points clear of the chasing pack in the NDTC Futsal Premier League after contrasting victories over the weekend.
After seven rounds of matches the two archrivals are the only remaining unbeaten teams in the league on 21 points each with Quailty on top of the log due to a slightly better goal aggregate.
On Friday night, Luis Solunga was the star of the show, scoring six goals as Quality thumped 7 Kings FC 9-1.
7 Kings were still in contention at halftime with a narrow 2-1 deficit, but Quality, and Solunga, turned on the style, with seven unanswered goals for a runaway victory.
Quality’s other scorers were Ken Salute with two goals and Piedoso Afonso with one, while Tony Sefrako scored 7 Kings’ solitary goal.
The next day, Chile were given a big scare by Windhoek Futsal Club (WFC) before winning their match 8-4.
Chile seemed to be heading for an easy victory when they built up a 4-1 lead by halftime after goals by Bornface Siyanga (two), Immanuel Angula and Kimon Solomon, while Philimon Muhongo scored for WHC.
After the break though, WFC came storming back through goals by Dahlin Kandjala, Mzwandile Mento and Denzel Mulunga to tie the match at 4-4 and it seemed that an upset was on the cards.
Chile, however, regrouped and with Solomon leading their revival they scored four goals in the final three minutes to seal their victory. Solomon scored two to complete his hattrick, while Stanley Paulse and Angula scored the other two.
Ballers FC are lying third, three points behind the leaders, after a comprehensive 6-0 victory against Flying V.
The match was still wide open at the break with Ballers holding a narrow 1-0 lead, but they upped the tempo after the break to run out comfortable winners.
Ichshaan von Francois scored a hattrick, George Haikali two, and Elmor Delie one goal for Ballers.
Reggie Willemse was Selecao FC’s hero, scoring a hattrick and the winning goal in the dying seconds in a thrilling 5-4 victory against the X Men.
Adnaan Rath gave the X Men an early lead but two goals by Willemse, and one each by Malone Barendse and Vilho Lawrence put Selecao 4-1 ahead early in the second half.
The X Men, however, launched a great comeback as goals by Kaejarukapo Uarukuiani, Jose Japhta and Kaylan Eksteen drew them level at 4-4, but Willemse had the final say when he completed his hattrick in the final seconds. That win put Selecao fourth on the log on 16 points, while WFC are one point behind in fifth place.
Patriots also had to withstand a strong challenge from Demia FC before winning their encounter 6-5.
Patriots were cruising with a 4-1 lead early in the second half, but Demia made a strong comeback before eventually losing by a single goal.
Patriots’ goal scorers were Greg Cloete (two), Jamal Jacobs, Peter Cloete, Treasure Kauapirura and Terence Mukassa, while Chindo Walubita (two), Tsepho Makazaa, Gerson Shipena and Popyenie Shihepo scored for Demia. The result left Patriots sixth on the log on 13 points, while Boston Madrid joined them on 13 points after beating Ineos 4-1, through goals by Renzel Tjihita (two), Romario van Wyk and Wesley Bock, while Vincent Auchab replied for Ineos.
The Knights, meanwhile, beat the Mavericks 2-1, while JAC Motors got their first win of the season after beating Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Society FC 4-3.
They have now moved up to 14th position on three points, while Flying V are bottom of the log, still without a win.
