The Namibian’s editor Tangeni Amupadhi (TA) responded to some questions and comments raised about the increase of the price of our Friday edition. Readers’ contributions as they appear on Facebook and Twitter.
Fillemonshivute Kwedhi Friday’s newspaper is fat but open it you will find the repeat news of Monday to Thursday and lots of sales for furniture stores, food retail and as Christmas and new year sale is out print media will require more inks to print # let support only Friday
Cassandra Ashley Swartz Soo true
Wilson Antonio Gomes Or they could have increased their advertising space fees for that matter, since it’s mostly all bout marketing in Friday’s editions.
John Kondo I think u must think about it again, you will lose customers. Ask Confidante, especially these days when people get news on Facebook and from their whatsapp group.
Amor Nangy Why are we complaining… in fact, why did it take so long for The Namibian to come up with this initiative… I am in full support…
Ahty Nestor Then all good well articulated news will be in expensive newspaper let me save for Friday’s The Namibian only… even idiot knows this.
Hjj Mouton All newspapers charge 5 dollars except The Namibian nowadays though your adverts are more expensive. Why not charge 5 dollars from Monday to Friday? That way you will not confuse the customers.
Patty Silas How about job hunters who struggle to get the newspaper at N$3 dollars already?
Lukas Michael We will only be buying The Namibian from Monday to Thursday then. Okay thanks.
Moses Nakale Be reminded that as from 25 November no one will buy your newspapers every Friday! We will make use of our Facebook!
Meneer Slaghuis Whatever price it takes to protect Immanuel Shinovene, we will buy it.
Florida Jorse This is not up for debate, they are not asking for our opinions, they are telling us. And I quote ” we have decided…. ”
Saratjie Nakatana So we should add N$17 per week to our expenses. Quite a lot.
aka Zouh Are you telling me that you have decided to increase the price tag for Friday’s paper by 66.7% hmmmmm!!!! on what grounds did u come up with that huge increment, whilst knowing the current economic climate in Namibia. Just imagine employees demanding 66% for next year’s salary increase on basis of better performance. You must be grateful that there is no union in Namibia that is opposed ur proposal.
