Rammies shift focus

Rammies shift focus

RAMBLERS will shift their focus to the premiership tonight when they meet a rigid Tigers side, after their triumph over Black Africa in the FNB Cup at the weekend.

Kick off is 19h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. The match can swing into Ramblers favour considering their terrific form and the quality players in the side, but Tigers might have a surprise in the offing for them too.Despite beating BA at the weekend, Ramblers will be expected to have gathered themselves after some lively celebrations on their cup win on Saturday night.Tigers will for the third time in a row, go in as underdogs, after overcoming the might of Civics and African Stars with victories in earlier premiership matches. In their last match on November 23, Tigers stunned Civics with a 3-2 win after coming from behind, while they also achieved a victory with a similar scoreline and in same fashion, against African Stars earlier last month. This time, Tigers will once again aim to hunt down Ramblers, which has so far drawn four matches, while they have only won twice. The draws appears to be a concern for the two co-coaches in Dove Fransman and Tollie van Wyk, who insisted that their players should start scoring to win matches.Van Wyk said there is no doubt that they have some of the top players in the country, but was worried about hitting the target as often.Ramblers strikers have only netted nine goals, but are in second position on the log, compared to Tigers whose strikers have hit home eleven times, but in seventh spot.Tigers coach Willem Kapukare has not lost a match (won 2) since taking over and his tactical and technical approach has paid off, despite having one of the average performing teams in the league.Former Tigers players, Nelson Akwenye (midfielder), Pineas Jacob (striker), Jeremia Baisako (defender) and Mahne Martin (midfielder) will be bitterly disappointed if they go down on the night in Ramblers colours.
