Rap Game Slowly Revived

Two of the country’s prolific rappers, KP Illest and Skypt, have once again proven why they are not only rap phenomena and hitmakers, but also rappers who give back to the rap culture, with their latest Rap Cypher event coming soon.

Skypt says auditions for Rap Cypher will merely be a teaser for the main event.

He says the event defines what hip-hop culture is in Namibia.

“The event defines the culture. When cyphers and hip-hop collaborations stopped, people stopped asking for it. And hip-hop fans, even the passive ones, need to be fed,” he says.

Skypt says the event is an opportunity for rappers to have a song mixed and mastered by Illest Music, and that they are just doing their part in restoring hip-hop culture in Namibia back to its former glory.

“I ‘m not saying hip-hop has solely been in our hands, but we dropped the ball as a collective, and we are going to do our part to revive it,” he says.
