RDP unveils manifesto for the 2009 elections

PROMISING wide-ranging change at a rally in the North, the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) launched its 2009 election manifesto over the weekend.

Addressing a crowd on Saturday at Ohangwena, RDP President Hidipo Hamutenya said his party will bring hope and change across a broad range of social sectors, from education to agriculture and sports development. ‘We, as RDP leaders, are pledging to you that together we will bring hope to you,’ said Hamutenya.’Just read our manifesto, vote for us in big numbers and give us the mandate to rule this country, then you will see that we will bring back hope to you again.’Hamutenya said all the RDP wanted was the mandate from the Namibian people to rule and administer Namibia in a proper way and to bring hope to the nation. He said the party was busy organising itself in all regions of the country and claimed that many people were joining the party daily. The rally was attended by a big crowd, some decked out in the RDP colours, and Hamutenya thanked them for coming out in large numbers. ‘I am moved, I am happy to see such a big crowd, a sea of people, who came to listen to the message of hope,’ he said.Hamutenya was accompanied by RDP vice president Steve Bezuidenhout, Ohangwena RDP regional secretary Timotheus Shikongo and other RDP Central Committee members. oswald@namibian.com.na
