Recycled juggling and music to promote sustainability in Windhoek

A unique multidisciplinary performance combining music, juggling, and poetry will take place this Friday, 25 October, at the Goethe Institut to raise environmental awareness.

Titled ‘Recycled Juggling and Sound’, the event will feature ethnomusicologist Tapz, environmentalist and juggler Fernando Filipe, and Grade 10 pupils from Waldorf School Windhoek.

The show aims to promote the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals through creative performances.

Fernando Filipe will lead with his juggling act, which uses recycled materials to emphasise the importance of environmental responsibility and sustainability. Known for his work as an environmental creative facilitator, Filipe combines comedy and performance to inspire eco-conscious action.

Waldorf pupils will perform original poetry and music using instruments crafted from waste materials. Under the guidance of their music teacher, Tapz, they will demonstrate the power of upcycling and creativity in advocating for sustainability.

Tapz expressed excitement about the event.

“I am taking part in this event because it’s an opportunity to use art as a powerful tool for change. Through music, performance, and creativity, we can inspire people to rethink how they interact with the environment.

“Gatherings like this are crucial because they bring communities together to reflect on how we can protect our planet while celebrating creativity and innovation. I encourage everyone to come out — not just to be entertained, but to be inspired to take action for a more sustainable future.”

The event starts at 19h20, with tickets priced at N$60 for kids and N$100 for adults
