Rehoboth man dies after fight over girl

A FIGHT over a girlfriend left a 35-year-old man dead and another charged with murder and injured in hospital at Rehoboth this past weekend.

According to a Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Stephan Nuuyi, a fight broke out between 35-year-old Petrus Mutafa and a 37-year-old man at Rehoboth’s Block E at about 21h50 on Saturday. A girlfriend was the reason for the fight, Nuuyi said.
The two men beat and stabbed each other with sticks and knives, and in the end this resulted in the death of Mutafa.
The other man – now a suspect in a murder case – was admitted to St Mary Hospital at Rehoboth with head injuries.
* Police at Okatope in the Oshikoto Region have opened an inquest docket after a woman and her 11-month-old baby died after they were struck by lightning on Tuesday.
Sergeant Christina Fonsech of of NamPol’s public relations unit at Oshakati told Nampa that the incident occurred at Otaambambunya village in the Okatope area.
Fonsech identified the mother as Lucia Nghaamekwa (35), and the baby boy as Vilho Nghinyekemunhu Hambiya.
