Republican Party (RP) president Henk Mudge says if he is elected into power, any man found guilty of raping a woman or child would face life imprisonment.
He said this while launching his party manifesto in Windhoek last month.
“If I am the president of this country, we will change the law that if a man rapes a woman or a child he will go to jail for life. Not 25 years.
“If it means dying there, he must die in jail. We cannot accept what is going on. This abuse of women and children is unacceptable,” Mudge said.
He promised to close all gambling houses in the country and 80% of shebeens.
“There is no question about that. We are not people who need to be drunk every single day and commit these atrocities,” Mudge said.
