The health condition of OvaHerero Paramount Chief Kuaima Riruako who has been in hospital since 26 April this year, has changed back to critical, the family’s spokesperson Dr Hoze Riruako has said.
Hoze told Nampa on enquiry Monday that although the diagnosis by doctors who are treating the senior Riruako do not look that bad, a factor contributing to the ailing veteran’s condition is his age.
“Thus, it will take some time for his condition to normalise,” he said.
The family spokesperson could however not tell this agency when the veteran politician had a relapse and whether he has been moved back to the intensive care unit.
The 79-year-old Riruako is being treated for high blood pressure.
On Friday, Hoze informed this reporter that the politician’s condition was stable, before stating that he had been moved from the intensive care unit and was thus out of danger.
Two weeks ago a special prayer session was also held for the OvaHerero chief at the Oruuano Church in Windhoek’s Katutura residential area.
The prayer session was necessitated due to public interest in the well-being of the paramount chief, and preachers and individuals wanted to pray for him.
Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood. If this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage the body in many ways.
It is a serious condition which can lead to coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, and other health problems.
