RUNDU – The Ministry of Lands will assist the San community with their cultivation activities, Mukwe Constituency Councillor John Thighuru said on Monday.
The Councillor told Nampa that plans are underway for the Ministry to assist the community by paying for ploughing services. He called on livestock owners in the constituency who have extra oxen to approach the Ministry’s office at Divundu.They would then be paid for making their oxen available to plough others’ fields, he said.”We should seriously assist these people as most of them do not have oxen to plough their fields,” said Thighuru.He applauded crop farmers in his constituency for working hard on their fields, adding that Government is providing seeds to those in need.Another seed distribution programme, run by Africare, is expected to start later this month, he said.Drought has seriously affected the Mukwe Constituency over the past two years.- NampaHe called on livestock owners in the constituency who have extra oxen to approach the Ministry’s office at Divundu.
