South African stand-up comedian Schalk Bezuidenhout is back in the country for another show.

Bezuidenhout’s first show in Namibia was in 2018 at the Warehouse Theatre in Windhoek.

The show will take place on Saturday at 19h00 at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.

Wouter de Bruyn will entertain the crowd before and after the show.

“Windhoek will always be special to me. I really enjoy the audience here. They are very supportive and friendly and know how to appreciate a good joke.

“I have also performed on a farm near Okahandja. I always love travelling to Namibia. It feels a lot like being in South Africa at times, but there’s a lot more wide open spaces,” Bezuidenhout says.

The comedian was born at Kempton Park.

He started doing stand-up in April 2011 while studying in Cape Town.

Bezuidenhout says he has many new things to share with Namibians.

“I don’t remember Windhoek being a windy corner during my previous visits. I am very excited to perform at the Windhoek Country Club Resort. I stayed there during a previous visit, but this will be the first time that I perform there.

“My year has been very busy so far, with shows in Australia, England and The Netherlands. I don’t visit Namibia often, so this is perhaps the only time you will see me perform in 2023,” he says.

Bezuidenhout says his shows have an age restriction of 14 because of the occasional swear word.

He says if parents are okay with it, they can bring their children along if they are 12 or 13 years old.

“I don’t like telling the same jokes in my shows, so this is your one opportunity to hear me telling the jokes I’m performing at the moment. The public can look forward to new laughs and new clothes, although I mostly still buy second-hand clothing.

“It is a stand-up comedy show, so I will be standing and doing comedy most of the time, except when I lie down on the stage while laughing at one of my own jokes, which doesn’t happen too often.

“The idea is that the audience will sit and laugh out loudly for the full 80 minutes. Then everyone will feel good when they go home,” he said.

Bezuidenhout will also be available after the show to meet and greet fans and take photos.
