Selecao Futsal Club went to the top of the NDTC Futsal Namibia Premier League log after collecting their second successive win over the weekend.

The coastal side travelled to Windhoek on Saturday morning, but showed no ill effects of their trip as they beat The Mavericks 2-0 to go to the top of the log on six points, just above the defending champions Quality FC and Ballers FC on goal difference.

Tiago Willemse opened Selecao’s account after seven minutes, and although The Mavericks offered stubborn resistance, Christy Diamonds added Selecao’s second goal midway through the second half to give them maximum points.

They now lead the log on six points and a +7 goal aggregate, just ahead of Quality FC (six points and a +6 goal aggregate), who beat Ineos FC 5-3 in a thriller.

Quality seemed to be cruising to victory after two early goals by Luis Solunga, but Ineos made a fine second half comeback to draw level after goals by Kaleb Shooya and Andy Niingungo.

In a hectic final quarter, Ken Salote restored Quality’s lead, but Ineos once again drew level through a goal by Majami David.

Quality, however, finished stronger and two goals in the final five minutes by Sebastiao Borges and Silvano Andre gave them the win.

Ballers FC are the only other team on six points after they beat Demia FC 2-1, through goals by Inrico Swartz and Donald Modise, while Chinu Mufeti replied for Demia. They have now moved into third position on the log on six points and a goal aggregate of +4.

Boston Madrid and Patriots, meanwhile, both picked up big wins, with Madrid beating 7 Kings 8-0 while Patriots beat Flying V 7-1.

Madrid took control of the match from the start and already led 4-0 by halftime after a brace by Romario van Wyk and two more goals by Ronaldo Zaahl and Cherman Cupido.

Madrid continued their onslaught after the break with further goals by Duscan Kasika, a brace by Lorenzo Louis, and a third goal by Van Wyk giving them a resounding victory.

Patriots, meanwhile, took a while to subdue Flying V. Goals by Greg Cloete and Jamal Jacobs gave them a 2-0 lead by halftime, but the floodgates opened after the break as Greg Cloete struck with a hattrick in six minutes, before further goals by Jacobs and Phillimon Petrus completed a convincing victory.
