Sports commission officials get bail

FORMER Namibia Sport Commission officials Ivonne Nande and Walter Haseb, who are both facing corruption charges, were each granted bail of N$40 000 each in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court today.

Nande and Haseb were arrested in July this year following an Anti-Corruption Commission investigation into the misappropriation of N$5 million at the sport commission.

Magistrate Vanessa Stanley granted the duo bail on condition that they surrender their travel documents, may not apply for new ones, first seek permission from the police officer responsible for their case before leaving the country, and that they should report to the nearest Police Station every Friday between 08h00 and 17h00.

They are expected back in court on 19 February 2018, while investigations continue.
