Water ski at Von BachTHE Namibia Water-Ski championships will be held at the Von Bach Dam from today until Sunday.

The event has so far attracted 10 competitors from South Africa, while there will be 20 from Namibia. The championships will focus on the slalom, tricks and jumps on both Saturday and Sunday.Gary Knight, the slalom champ from South Africa will also be in action, while Namibia’s Andre Mostert will vie for top honours in the over 35 category.There will be a ‘Bambino’ and ‘Dolphin’ categories for the juniors during the event.For more information contact Mr. Knight at 081 129 3515.Independence Race at coastTHE Dr. Sam Nujoma Independence Metropolitan Race will be held on March 21 at Walvis Bay.The winner in the senior men and women categories will each get N$2 000 and a floating trophy, while for the junior a prize of N$1 000 is at stake.The entry fees for the juniors is N$5 and seniors will pay N$10.Runners from countries such as Swaziland, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Botswana confirmed their participation.The event is organised by the Sunshine Athletic Club under the auspices of Athletics Namibia.The closing date for entries is March 20.Entries can be faxed to the following numbers in Windhoek: 222706, 2053081 or 261193.Contact persons are Mike Haimbodi at 081 256 3680 or Alpha Kangueehi at 081 262 3434.Women cricketers to TanzaniaTHE Namibia Women’s Cricket team which will take part in the Four Nations tournament in Tanzania next month has been announced.The team will compete against Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda.The tournament will be held from April 5 to 14 in Dar es Salaam.The squad is as follows: Margot Louw (caption);
