Standard Bank celebrates 100 at Oshakati

STANDARD Bank Namibia celebrated reaching a century since its establishment in style at Oshakati in Oshana region over the weekend.

The bank staff, led by regional manager Ismael Hakaaje, marched from the Oshakati Pharamacy to the main branch where they held celebrations that lasted the whole of Saturday and ended with a gala dinner at the Ongwediva women centre.

The governor of Oshana region Klemens Kashuupulwa praised Standard Bank for being a valuable development partner with government and contributing positively to the regional’s social, economical and cultural growth by investing in worthwhile projects such as the N$2million Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair Gate, the Standard Bank Buy-a-Brick Project to assist the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia to build affordable houses by donating N$500 000.

The bank also donated N$100,000 to the Tukwafela Project for expectant mothers at Outapi in Omusati region as well as N$1,5 million for the development of the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital, to enhance the quality of health care delivery to the people.

“Turing hundred years old is a great achievement and we are happy for the many years of partnership and growth Standard Bank Namibia has brought to our beloved region and country as a whole, and I am using this opportunity to congratulate and thank Standard Bank Namibia for bringing economic development to the region, while at the same time making banking accessible to Namibians in the northern part of the country,” Kasuupulwa said. Standard Bank Namibia’s CEO Vetumbuavi Mungunda thanked the authorities and the bank’s clients for assisting the bank all the way and also for being valuable customers. He said the bank will continue rendering excellent services to its customers.
