State House appoints new permanent secretary

FORMER ambassador to Angola and Cuba, Grace Uushona, is the new permanent secretary in the office of the president, State House announced on Monday.

Presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari announced that Uushona’s term starts on 1 December 2018, and her contract will run up to 31 May 2021.

She replaces current permanent secretary in the office of the president, Samuel /Goagoseb

“Ambassador Uushona brings to the position a wealth of leadership and managerial experience, having served as governor of the Otjozondjupa region, and ambassador of Namibia to Cuba, and until recently the Republic of Angola,” he said.

Hengari said president Hage Geingob wishes ambassador Ushona success in the execution of her new responsibilities.

“The president would also like to thank the outgoing permanent secretary in the Presidency, Samuel /Goagoseb, for years of dedicated service to the Presidency,” he added.

Hengari did not explain where /Goagoseb is headed to, but the latest appointment could be the start of several diplomatic announcements.

/Goagoseb, according to an article by , could be heading to Cuba.

Before being appointed at State House, he served as permanent secretary in the home affairs ministry, and also at the safety and security ministry.

/Goagoseb was unreachable for comment.
