A state-owned company responsible for electricity distribution at Oshakati has supplied a generator for a Swapo rally at Endola on Saturday.
A vehicle belonging to the electricity distributor towed the generator, provided by Oshakati Premier Electric, to the rally.
Oshakati Premier Electric spokesperson Abed Uutoni on Sunday said the generator is available for hire, and Swapo in the Endola district had submitted a request for a quote.
The quote was provided and payment was made, he said.
Uutoni was, however, unable to provide proof of the payment or the specific amount Swapo paid to rent the generator.
“I don’t have the exact amount and quote with me since I am not at the office currently. I will revert on Monday,” he said.
Swapo politburo and central committee member Hofni Iipinge, who was one of the rally’s organisers, declined to disclose how much the party paid for the generator.
“I cannot comment on that. I don’t even know who gave you such information,” he said before abruptly ending the call.
