‘Struggle kids’ told to respect the law

‘Struggle kids’ told to respect the law

RESPECT the law and don’t betray your elders was the message of a Swapo youth leader to the ‘Children of the Liberation Struggle’ camping out at the party’s Oshana head office on Monday.

‘Most of all let’s respect ourselves, our elders and our leaders,’ said Natangwe Ithete, the SPYL Secretary for Education, Culture and Pioneer Movement. ‘If we disengage ourselves from respect than we will regret it for the rest of our lives.’ Ithete said the young people camped out at Swapo’s Oshakati office should not see their prolonged demonstration as the only way out. ‘While we are busy demonstrating our fellow youth are taking advantage by applying for bursaries, furthering their studies and seeking jobs,’ he said. ‘My advice is that we must not concentrate on the demonstration alone. Let’s continue applying for bursaries and be more proactive, innovative and create job opportunities for ourselves,’ Ithete said. And he urged them to give Government a chance to address their issues. ‘Government will not turn a blind eye,’ he said. He also said that Namibia would be free forever as long as young people did not betray their parents, who fought hard for the country. Ithete urged the ‘Children of the Liberation Struggle’ to register to vote in the November elections to keep Swapo in power, and concluded by saying: ‘Believe me, we will all smile come the year 2030.’
