Student teachers get bursaries

Student teachers get bursaries

THE Ohangwena Education and Training Fund, launched last year to train teachers in English, Mathematics and Science, bore fruit this month when bursaries were awarded to three students who graduated from local schools last year.

At the launch of the bursary fund at Oshikango last year, local communities donated cash, livestock and farm produce. The three students who received bursaries are Fransina Haikola and Abed-Nego Nghinyekwa from Haimbili Haufiku Senior Secondary School and Job Shikongo from Eengedjo Senior Secondary School, who will be fully sponsored by PetroFund.All three students got good marks in English, Mathematics and Science in their Grade 12 examinations last year.They will start their studies at the University of Namibia this year.After completing their studies, they will be contractually obliged to teach at any school in the Ohangwena Region for at least five years.The three students who received bursaries are Fransina Haikola and Abed-Nego Nghinyekwa from Haimbili Haufiku Senior Secondary School and Job Shikongo from Eengedjo Senior Secondary School, who will be fully sponsored by PetroFund.All three students got good marks in English, Mathematics and Science in their Grade 12 examinations last year.They will start their studies at the University of Namibia this year.After completing their studies, they will be contractually obliged to teach at any school in the Ohangwena Region for at least five years.
