Studying Can Be Easier

The test is on tomorrow. That night she is busy watching ‘Revenge Body With Khloe Kardashian’.

He is repeatedly playing and learning the lyrics to ‘Who’s Got The Juice?’ by ViKta (a good song. I admit). If a song or series can be learnt by heart as the Lord’s prayer, so can a school subject be learnt and mastered too.

Passing students have mastered the art of studying. They associate themselves with activities helping to build their studying skills, such as studying repeatedly, reading newspapers every day and always having a book to read. They weed out bad habits which block their way to effective studying. They don’t watch series or memorise songs the night before they write their tests or examinations.

Listen to my dad’s story! We came from the countryside. My dad never went to school for some understandable reasons, though, he assisted with my homework until I matriculated. He could solve mathematical ‘x’ equations and understood moles. I loved it when he could look at the cattle in the kraal and talk about how both cow X and oxen B equals to the amount of bull Y if sold!

How did he go so deep into learning that he could even apply mathematical formulas to his everyday life? He wasn’t even after a qualification (degree) like most of us are studying for.

He definitely taught himself so that he can assist me with my schoolwork and make sure that I finish school with ease, otherwise I would graduate in cattle-herding and take over the herds from him when he grows old and senile.

Apart from herding cattle, milking cows and hunting, he said studying was much easier. It is not as difficult as castrating a bull, it is easy as feeding chickens. He used to exaggerate. Encouragingly, he used to tell me “priceless energy is put into studying, son. You only need a meal so you keep your eyes blinking as you read. Nothing else!”

My father’s way of learning is like a fairytale, however, it’s very motivating. From his words, I’ve learnt that studying is free of charge and nobody spent much for it. In fact, one doesn’t need to buy a voucher so his eyes and brain perform the studying, unless he did not have a meal.

Studying may be easier if mastered. Studying is a habit only built through associating with activities, giving way to build it and through rejection of evils failing effective studying.
