Suspended Walvis Bay official reinstated

THE chief executive officer (CEO) of Walvis Bay and four other officials, who have been on suspension since December, have been reinstated.

An official in the municipality confirmed they will resume duty on 1 September.

CEO Muronga Haingura, general manager Augostino Victor, housing and properties manager Jack Manale, and property clerk Connie Summers have been reinstated while Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigations are ongoing.

It is not clear how they will execute their duties while their laptops and mobile phones are still with the ACC.

The equipment was confiscated as part of an investigation into the missing N$24 million of the mass urban servicing project.

Former Walvis Bay Urban constituency councillor Knowledge Ipinge opened the case with the ACC.

Town mayor Trevino Forbes says the municipality will issue a statement next week.
