Swanu kicks out Katjivirue

Evilastus Kaaronda

South West Africa National Union (Swanu) Namibia has expelled alleged faction leader Charles Katjiviure and party members for not complying with its constitution.

Swanu president, Evilastus Kaaronda said the party came to the resolution to expel Katjiviure at the Extra Ordinary Council Committee (EOCC) meeting held on Saturday.

“Unity is important but without discipline it is meaningless, that’s not unity.” he said.

He said the EOCC held on 21 August 2021 at which Charles Katjivirue and others were elected as leaders was unlawful and violated the constitution of the party.

Kaaronda said Katjivirue and the members have caused irreparable harm to Swanu’s reputation and would no longer enjoy the rights afforded to party members.

“If they should be found or seen using the name or properties of the party, they will face legal action.”

Swanu chairperson, Muvatera Sirririka-Ndjoze said the party is ready for election and is calling the public to look at Swanu as an alternative government and an official opposition party.

“Swanu is ready for elections, our eyes are on the elections, we are focused. Swanu is ready to assist our country to achieve the highest level that we want to achieve for our country,” he said.

However, Charles Katjivurue said he has not been informed regarding the expulsion.
