Swapo dominates National Council

• NDANKI KAHIURIKAFORTY-TWO members of the fifth National Council of Namibia were sworn in yesterday morning by Chief Justice Peter Shivute.

Of the 42 members, 40 are from the ruling party Swapo with Nguzu Muharukua of DTA in Kunene and Nudo completing the number with Peter Kazongominja (Omaheke).

The NC will be chaired by Margaret Mensah-Williams (Khomas) and her deputy will be Bernard Sibatalani (Zambezi) while Lebbius Tobias (Oshikoto) will serve as the new Swapo chief whip.

The other councillors, who are all Swapo members, are Ambrosius Kandjii (Khomas), Jonannes Hamutenya, Johannes Nangolo, Melania Ndjago (all from Erongo), Jeremiah van Neel, Simon Dukeleni, Nico Mungenga (all from Hardap), Paulus Ephraim, Dawid Boois and Hilma Nicanor (all from //Karas).

From the Kavango are Petrus Kavhura, Victoria Mbawo, Michael Shikongo (all from Kavango East), Nakambare Haikera, Rosa Kavara and Lukas Sinimbo Muha (all from Kavango West).

Others are Johaness Antsino, Weich Mupya (both from Kunene), Jason Ndakunda, Phil- lipus Shikongo, Loina Shinana (all from Ohangwena) and Cor- nelius Kanguatjivi and Phillipus Katamelo (both from Omaheke).

Werner Kalipi, Titus Kanyele, Gerhard Shiimi (Omusati) Lotto Kuushomwa, Joseph Mupetami, Rosalia Shilenga (Oshana), Betty Kaula, Hans Nambodi (both from Oshikoto), Steve Biko Booys, Fransina Ghauz, Laina Nekundi (from Otjozondjupa), John Likando and Cletius Sipapela (from Zambezi) complete the list.
