Swapo sweeps //Kharas during special vote

SWAPO WINS SOUTH … Swapo and its presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, scooped the victory in the //Kharas region during the special voting.

Swapo has recorded run away victories in the //Kharas region during the special voting.

Special voting for the Namibia Defence Force, Correctional Services, and Namibian Police force took place at three polling points in ǃNamiǂNûs, Oranjemund, and Keetmanshoop Urban on Wednesday.

The total votes cast in the presidential election amounted to 1 160 with 19 rejected ballots and 1 154 votes cast in the National Assembly elections with 8 rejected ballots.

Out of the presidential votes Swapo, candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah scooped 598 votes, Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) candidate Panduleni Itula 317, Landless Peoples’ Movement (LPM) candidate Bernadus Swartbooi 103 votes and Affirmative Repositioning (AR) candidate Job Amupanda 72 votes.

Current official opposition leader from the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), McHenry Venaani, gathered 57 votes across the three polling stations across the region.

In the National Assembly election, Swapo recorded a runaway victory with 543 votes, IPC 254, LPM 121, AR 120, and PDM 59.

Nandi-Ndaitwah seems to have proven to be a favourite for the presidential candidate.

However, at Oranjemund, Itula garnered more votes than Nandi-Ndaitwah in the presidential vote, but Swapo scooped the win in the National Assembly vote.
