THE expelled former Swapo Party Youth League members – Job Amupanda, Elijah Ngurare, George Kambala and Dimbulukeni Nauyoma – are officially back as ordinary members of the youth league.
The decision was made by the party’s central committee on Sunday, and was announced yesterday by Swapo secretary general Nangolo Mbumba.
This follows a High Court order given last month after the quartet sought legal intervention against their dismissal in 2014.
“They are now welcomed back into the party, ” said Mbumba at a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in Windhoek.
Attempts to get comment from Ngurare were unsuccessful yesterday, while the other three are currently in Banjul, Gambia attending a conference.
The four were expelled for their stance on the land issue and involvement in the Affirmative Repositioning movement which is calling for equity in land distribution.
The birth of the AR took place around the time of the presidential elections in 2014, something which was not taken well by various party elders, leading to the expulsions.
