Swartbooi leads in Gibeon, Daweb constituencies in Hardap region

Landless People’s Movement (LPM) leader Bernadus Swartbooi is leading in the presidential election in both the Gibeon and Daweb constituencies in the Hardap region.

In Gibeon, Swartbooi tops with 1 544 (49.84%) votes and in Daweb, he is leading with 1 154 (40.11%) votes, followed by Swapo presidential candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah with 1 082 (37.61) votes, and 1 267 (40.90%) in the Gibeon constituency.

This was announced by Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) chairperson Elsie Nghikembua during a media briefing on the outcome of the preliminary results on Monday.

Overall, Nandi-Ndaitwah is still leading with 362 940 votes, which is 54.82%, while Itula takes the second lead with 185 975 votes, which is 28.09%.

The ECN revealed results from 21 constituencies for the presidential elections on Monday evening as the presidential election vote count continues.

The ECN will release more preliminary results from the remaining constituencies on Tuesday.
