Swimmers off to Tunisia

SIX Namibian swimmers leave for Rades, Tunisia today to represent their country at the 13th Cana African Junior Swimming Championships which start on Wednesday.

The swimmers will compete in two separate age group categories for 13 and 14 year olds, and for 15 and 16 year olds.

The swimmers in the former group are Jose Canjulo (14), Maya Stange (14) and Mackenzie Spath (14), while the latter group consists of Hannah Murphy (16), Trisha Mutumbulua (15) and Mikah Burger (15).

Besides their individual categories, they will also compete in the following relay events:

Mikah Burger, Hannah Murphy, Trisha Mutumbulua and Jose Canjulo will compete in the Mixed Open 400m freestyle as well as the Mixed Open 400m Medley relay; while Hannah Murphy, Maya Stange, Mackenzie Spath and Trisha Mutumbulua will compete in the Women’s Open 400m freestyle and Women’s Open 400m medley relay events.

The swimmers will be accompanied by team coach Jane Samson and team manager Amanda Burger.

The championship will be held at the Rades Sport Centre from Wednesday, 11 September to Sunday, 15 September.
