PLEASE allow me to share my recent experience with a Windhoek taxi driver. One afternoon this week, I took a taxi and upon arrival at my destination, this taxi driver decided to overcharge me and my friend.
I decided that I would not move until this man gave us the money back. This taxi driver became violent and physically harmed me.Later we ended up at the Police station where, to my surprise, nothing was done to him and, even more surprisingly, one of the officers told him that he felt sorry for him.How can women be safe when the criminals are being protected? There were men who just looked on while my rights were being violated and they did nothing. There are campaigns going around to stop the violence, but how can we stop it when people behave like this? And the Police, when will they start taking this seriously? This same man who attacked me today could hurt another person tomorrow.Stop talking and start acting.Anon Via e-mailThis taxi driver became violent and physically harmed me.Later we ended up at the Police station where, to my surprise, nothing was done to him and, even more surprisingly, one of the officers told him that he felt sorry for him.How can women be safe when the criminals are being protected?
