THE Oranjemund Town Council is inviting bidders for five projects at the diamond-mining town of 4 000 inhabitants situated on the northern banks of the Orange River along the border with South Africa.
In an advertisement published on Friday, the council is inviting eligible bidders to renovate and upgrade the crèche on erven 2160 and 2161 at Extension 5, also known as Baghdad.
The deadline for submitting bids for this project is 29 October.
The council is also looking for a suitable company to construct a fire station at the town.
“The closing date for this tender is 19 November,” the town council says.
In addition, the council is looking for bidders for the construction of electrical services that include medium and low-voltage reticulation, street lighting, and service connections for the Baghdad area.

“Also on offer is the opportunity to construct civil and structural works – a new sewage pump station number 12, and raising the main one,” the council says.
The fifth opportunity is for the supply, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning and free maintenance during the guarantee period of the sewer pumps, and related pipe and electrical works installation for the new sewage pump station number 12.
The deadline for the submission of these bids is also 19 November.
