Namibian singer-songwriter Teqla has been making waves in the music industry for years, and her latest single ‘Djulukwa’ is deeply personal and was written in memory of her late father.

In a recent interview, Teqla shared details about the single, her upcoming album, and thoughts on the music industry.

“Writing ‘Djulukwa’ was a cathartic experience for me. I had so many emotions that I needed to express, and music was the best way for me to do that,” she said.

Eventually, she took her friend’s advice and wrote about how much she missed her father and what haunted her the most after his passing, which were her last words to him.

The song was produced by her dear friend, Araffat Muhuure, who recently passed away. As a tribute to him, Teqla decided to release ‘Djulukwa’ as her first single.

“My new album is a musical journey that reflects my growth as an artist. I had the opportunity to collaborate with so many talented musicians, and I’m excited for my fans to hear it.”

Teqla’s new album is set to be released soon, but she plans to release a few more singles before that.

The album was mastered by GLO. Teqla worked with more artists on this album than any other.

The album promises to be a musical journey that will showcase Teqla’s musical versatility and creativity.

Over the past few years, Teqla has featured on other artists’ songs but hasn’t released any of her own work. She struggled to find the right team and support, but she now maintains that she is back, and ready to share her new music with the world.

“I’m grateful for the support of my fans over the years. It’s been a tough journey, but their encouragement has helped me keep going and pursuing my passion for music.”

When asked about her thoughts on the local music industry, Teqla acknowledged that it had changed significantly over the years. There are now more players, different genres, and markets to explore, and Teqla is excited to discover all the new opportunities the music industry has to offer.

“The local music industry is constantly evolving, and it’s exciting to see new players and different genres emerging. As an artist, I’m always looking for new opportunities to explore and express my creativity,” she said.

With ‘Djulukwa’ as a powerful first single, her upcoming album promises to be a celebration of Teqla’s artistry and legacy in the Namibian music scene.

“I hope my music can be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who listen to it. Music has the power to bring people together, and that’s what I strive to do with my art.” – unWrap.online
