‘The Destiny’- Book Review

‘The Destiny’ is an enchanting story that begins with a brief overview of Saint Michael’s Orphanage for Boys and Girls and our two main characters, Harry and Annette Webster (no relation). They meet Arthur, a new student, and are transported into the magical realm of Elfea where a thrilling new adventure awaits. Introducing ‘The Destiny’.

Dragons and witches, elves and Cerberus-like creatures – expect a ravishing journey through your mind including intense and quite detailed battles between two armies of good and evil. Chapter after chapter introduces unexpected secrets, and would make a lovely read for any ‘Harry Potter’ fan.

The wording is quite simple, and perhaps a mistake here and there might divert the reader for a while, but in essence, the characters are lively, plus they have an extensive and well-researched background which makes them easily likeable.

Ean and Nadia Oberholzer are certainly a reminder of great fantasy writers such as J K Rowling, J R Tolkien and perhaps some Tanith Lee squeezed somewhere along the lines, but the 17-year-olds make an honest attempt to the genre by creating their own style of writing.

A longer introduction of Dragon Lance and the characters that surround St Michael’s Orphanage For Boys and Girls would have been more welcome as the story seemed quite eager to reach Elfea, but generally, the rest of the story progresses quite well.

The 89-pager would make a great read for a sunny afternoon after school, or perhaps evolve into a bedtime story for children below the age of 12.

For those who have and will enjoy the book, good news! ‘The Destiny’ is set to become a movie and auditions will commence soon. Big World Cinema based in Cape Town has snatched up the rights to the book and the authors were excited to share this news.

“We just want to thank Bryony for her assistance and her faith in us. We would also like to thank everyone who supported us as well. We honestly did not think it would be a book at all. It’s mind-blowing,” Ean said during an interview.
