The First Lady of franchising

THE Namibian’s Ndama Nakashole spoke to Standard Bank Namibia’s manager of franchising Anthea Witbooi about her career and love for reading magazines, spending time with family and travelling.

As a franchise expert within Standard Bank Namibia Ltd, I manage the national franchise portfolio pertaining to the business banking segment of the bank. I also oversee the relationship with all our franchise clients, advise and provide tailor-made financial solutions to clients.

I’ve been a franchise manager since March 2015.

My expertise lies in business banking and I attended several leadership short courses during my 20-year career at Standard Bank Namibia.

Leadership relationship-building related books.

We found that the fastest franchise sectors are those in the quick service restaurants, restaurants, fuel, retail and automotive industries. Namibia’s economy still has sufficient scope to accommodate additional franchise outlets. There is a lot of opportunities in the main business hubs like the North, coastal and central Namibia. Some franchise models are excellent and business models really benefit the franchisee well. Owner-managed entities present you with a higher success rate than those managed by a general manager, especially when you are a multiple store owner.

I mostly read magazines and love spending time with my family and enjoy travelling.
