The Gift Of Giving

Catholic priest, philosopher and doctor of the church, Thomas Aquinas, once said: “Charity brings to life again those who are spiritually dead.”

The gift of giving is one of the few pleasures in life that still feeds the soul’s dignity and brings back humanity to communities and Fennie Phillipus thrives on good-samaritan deeds.

The Khomas High School teacher went on a school trip with pupils to Scotland in the UK in 2011. There she built a relationship with her host family who donated school stationery for Phillupus to distribute. Since then, she has regularly received items which she donates to children in need.

“In 2014, they sent pens, pencils and t-shirts to needy Namibians, I have distributed this to different points in the Okuryangava area.”

This year, Phillipus was invited once more by her host family for holiday and returned with various school items.

“This year they gave pens and pencils, pencil cases, wallets, rubbers, note books, rulers and sweets.”
