WHEN guests visit the Luna Namib Collection, they see luxury.
But behind the exquisiteness, meticulous details/touches, seamless service and impeccably designed spaces is a team of people working together to ensure every stay is memorable and unmatched.
Since the opening of Luna Namib Collection, members of Gondwana Collection Namibia’s head office team have had the unique opportunity to experience the property from a very different perspective – not as visitors, but as part of the team making it all happen.
Over the past two months, participants/employees, from managers and department heads to chefs, guides and support teams, volunteered to take on weekly shifts at the new ultra-luxury property.

Their roles varied from hosting guests and preparing meals to guiding activities and assisting with housekeeping, including laundry services.
The idea was simple: to understand, first-hand, how Luna operates, and how every detail flows together on a day-to-day basis.
What they discovered was far more than an operational learning experience.
For many, stepping out of their normal roles was a real eye-opener to the realities of hospitality.
Group brand marketing manager Jescey Bekker describes the experience as “magnificent”, saying it gave her a completely different outlook on how everything comes together behind the scenes.
She says she found herself learning things she never expected to learn.

It is a small but vivid reminder that luxury lies in the smallest of details, and that there is no job that is too big or too small in terms of delivering an exceptional guest experience.
She laughs when she thinks about intensely scrubbing floors with a brush.
The experience also gave colleagues the chance to work together in new ways, share meals, solve challenges, and make memories together.
And perhaps that is what makes the story of Luna truly special.
Gondwana has always believed that there is a story to tell, and this time the story is not only about the destination. It is about the people behind it.
Every beautifully prepared meal, every welcoming smile, every freshly made bed and every carefully considered detail has someone behind it.

Luna may have opened its doors to guests, but it also opened a new chapter for the Gondwana team – one based on teamwork, learning, and shared experiences.
Because there are times when the most interesting stories begin behind the scenes.
