The annual Miss High School Namibia beauty pageant will be held on 13 September in Windhoek and the organising committee is calling on all interested young women to submit their entry forms before 30 June.
The beauty pageant will see different girls from various schools compete for the crown. Silvi Nhinda, the co-ordinator of the project, said that the pageant gives many young girls an opportunity to express themselves and boost their self-confidence as well as to promote pride and inspire each other.
“We are urging all the girls who are presently in high school and who think that they have all it takes to become Miss High School Namibia to enter for this pageant,” she said.
This project is the only one in Namibia that has a music label, a documentary, a clothing line as well as a charity arm.
“All of this is just for youth empowerment because the pageant is here to bring changes to the mindset of youth all over the country. There are various prizes to be won,” added Silvi.
She also appealed for sponsorships saying that help is much needed to ensure that the event is successful.
Sylvia Sheuya from Tsumeb Secondary School who was crowned as the first Miss High School said that the platform gave her the opportunity to interact with her peers and helped to build her self esteem.
“I want to continue with my modelling career because winning Miss High School has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of people, so I encourage young girls to enter.”
Entry forms are available at the Namibia Hospitality Training Academy near Katutura Pick n Pay, Mondesa Youth Opportunities as well as at all municipal youth offices.
